I got this graph idea from www.jmeacham.com, but I altered it for my purposes. Mine is done using construction paper circles in various skin tones. The students drew their faces on the circles. This year, I have twice as many girls than boys!!

Who are you? And why should I listen to you?

My name is Jay, and I am the webmistress of Kindergarten Karaoke. Currently, I teach Kindergarten in a small, rural school district in East Texas. I have a bachelor's degree in English Literature from the University of Texas and Elementary Teaching certification from the prestigious LeTourneau University. While attending there, I worked closely with my professors to present a Young Writers conference in Lufkin, Texas. At the conference, I presented a workshop to 1st and 2nd graders on creating pop-up books. In the next room, Legendary Author, John Archambeault (Chicka, Chicka, Boom, Boom) presented a workshop to 2nd and 3rd graders on keeping a writing journal. I had the privilege of eating lunch with him and talking to him about children's book market and his works-in-progress. I only hope that some of his greatness rubbed off on me, as I am trying to make a career of writing children's literature.

I am also the mother of two beautiful and intelligent daughters. See picture below. As you can see, my life is full of love and words...in that order. Thank you so much for visiting my blog.
